Feeling Spring

It might be hard to feel it during these crazy times, but spring is in fact upon us, and while we are all spending a little (or a lot) of extra time at home, I thought it might be nice to share a few seasonal updates I’ve made to spruce things up around here.

Nothing says “spring” to me like hydrangeas! Whites and greens are my favorite. Neutrals – shocker, I know. I was lucky to get my hands on some before my local flower shop temporarily closed, but from what I can tell, grocery stores are still stocking blooms, and I’ve even seen some out for delivery. I like to keep a couple of short stems in the bathroom, and then use longer ones for more of a statement. The below arrangement has just over a dozen, and uses a tall vase with a narrow neck to create the balloon-like shape.

Next, some fresh greens on the living wall. I brought in some brighter, lighter texture, and added more hydrangeas to fill in the gaps between wall vases. The bud vase is full of green dianthus, which mimics the shape of the hydrangea, in the color of the greenery, tying everything together.

Lastly – flowering branches! A living example of spring, and a great long-lasting option for arrangements. I chose white quince, but it also comes in pink. Yellow forsythia is another favorite! Choose a large, rustic container and let them be wild and sprawling for the biggest statement.

Can’t get your hands on flowers? Head outside! Breathe in some fresh air and forage a few greens from open spaces. Instant mood lifter! Hope you all are staying safe (and sane!)
